Halloween in NZ

I confirmed that Halloween is an American thing. Yesterday was Halloween ahead of everyone in the world. It was very quiet and on the way home from our work, we saw several kids walking in their costumes with their parents. So, we bought candies (even a bag of Milky Way bars, but their taste, shape, and packaging are different) waiting for some children's visit. No one came, so we phoned and begged our neighbor to visit on their way to a church party. I guess the candy companies want to promote any festivities for their profit, even in Japan also.
